How to Volunteer
Our volunteers are the foundation on which Children’s Science Center is being built. You don’t need a math or science background or any specific experience to help out; you just need a lot of enthusiasm and a little bit of time. Our corps of volunteers has done everything from staff our “Museum Without Walls” booths at community events to writing news releases to much more. We welcome and appreciate any help and any amount of time you can offer.
As we expand our presence in Northern Virginia, we are looking for people who would like to help us spread the word that Children’s Science Center is coming! We need people to reach out to their acquaintances and organizations as well as people who would like to help us speak at various community events. You can organize a gathering in your home for friends and colleagues, or arrange for a presentation about Children’s Science Center at a meeting for a school, community or religious organization. For more information, please contact us at Volunteer@TheChildrensScienceCenter.org.
You can also help by volunteering your skills. Currently, we are seeking volunteers for the following positions:
Community ambassadors: People interested in organizing and/or attending meetings to help spread the word about Children’s Science Center.
Volunteer Coordinator: Responsible for organizing volunteers at community events.
Webmaster: Responsible for updating and maintaining the technical aspects of the Center’s new Web site.
Grant writers: Responsible for identifying likely funding sources for specific projects and/or helping to write grant applications.
If you are interested in these positions or would like more information about volunteering, please contact us at Volunteer@TheChildrensScienceCenter.org.
Get The Word Out
Another way to help is to spread the word! Tell your friends, relatives, and colleagues about Children’s Science Center and encourage them to get involved. Consider organizing an information session for your schools, community and religious associations. The more people who support Children’s Science Center, the faster we can open our doors to be the resource our families want and need. Tell A Friend
