Our Vision

We dream big here at the Children’s Science Center.

In an era when industry experts warn that the U.S. education system is failing to provide the math and science skills necessary for kids to compete in the 21st century workforce, Children’s Science Center is committed to growing future scientists and engineers to ensure the continued prosperity of the high-tech industry not only in the Washington D.C. area but the entire nation.

With the Washington D.C. metropolitan area second only to the Silicon Valley in the concentration of information technology professionals, Children’s Science Center will be playing a vital role in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) education in our region.

We envision a facility initially of about 20,000 to 40,000 square feet that not only will offer hands-on exhibits, activities and programs focusing on math and science, but will also be used for community events such as theater and music performances. We want to create a community resource where families can explore, create and be inspired.

We are anticipating opening our new facility next fall, and we soon will be launching a capital campaign to ensure the success of Children’s Science Center for years to come. We welcome your participation in creating this resource for the children and families of our region.

Our Mission

Children’s Science Center is dedicated to sparking children's interest in science through interactive exhibits and engaging programs that encourage exploration of math and science, stimulate creativity, and inspire through active learning.
